Who We Are
BuzzedUp is a social bar discovery app that lets users check in at bars, report live vibes, and find tonight's drink deals. We are operated by BuzzedUp LLC.

What We Collect
We collect the minimum data needed to make the app work:
- Location — used to show nearby bars and verify you're physically at a bar when checking in. Your precise location is sent to our map provider to display the map. We do not sell your location data.
- Anonymous user ID — a randomly generated ID (via Firebase Anonymous Auth) so your activity is linked to your account. No email or phone number required.
- Username — a display name you choose when you first use the app. This is visible to other users.
- Check-ins and vibes — the bar you checked into and the vibe tags you selected. These contribute to live venue activity visible to other users.
- Activity posts — messages you submit in venue activity feeds. These may be posted anonymously or with your username, based on your preference.
- Friends — if you connect with other users, we store your friend relationships. Your check-in activity may be visible to your friends.
- Deal ratings and poll votes — your ratings and votes on venue deals and polls.
- Badges — achievement data based on your activity within the app.
- Push notification token — a device identifier used to deliver push notifications. This token is stored so we can send you relevant updates.
- Device info — basic device and OS data collected automatically by Firebase for crash reporting and analytics.

How We Use Your Data
- To show live bar activity and vibes to other users
- To enforce check-in rules (distance verification, cooldown timers)
- To display tonight's bar deals and poll results
- To show your activity to friends you've connected with
- To send you push notifications about relevant nightlife activity
- To award badges based on your participation
- To generate aggregated business insights for venue partners (see Section 05)
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.

Data Retention
Some data is temporary and some persists as part of your account:
- Check-ins — stop contributing to live venue activity after approximately 2 hours.
- Vibe reports — stop contributing to live venue activity after approximately 2 hours.
- Activity posts — may be retained while the venue activity feed is active.
- Username, friends, and badges — persist as long as your account exists.
- Deal ratings — aggregated rating data may be retained for analytics purposes.
- Anonymous user ID — persists as long as your app installation is active.
If you uninstall the app, your Firebase Anonymous Auth session ends. Historical activity data associated with your anonymous ID may remain in our database. You can request deletion of this data by contacting us (see Section 08).

Artificial Intelligence
BuzzedUp uses AI to generate business insights for our venue partners. Aggregated, non-personally-identifiable venue data — such as check-in counts, vibe trends, and deal performance — may be processed by an AI service to produce analytics and recommendations for bar owners.
This AI processing uses aggregated venue-level data, not individual user profiles. The AI does not make decisions about individual users, and no personal data is used to train AI models.
The consumer app does not include an AI chatbot or AI-generated content directed at users.

Third-Party Services
BuzzedUp uses the following third-party services that may receive or process data:
- Firebase / Google — database, anonymous authentication, file storage, and crash analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy

- Anthropic — AI processing for aggregated venue analytics and business insights. No individual user data is sent. Anthropic Privacy Policy
- Expo — app build, delivery, and push notification infrastructure. Expo Privacy Policy
- Netlify — hosting and serverless functions for our venue management platform. Netlify Privacy Policy
- Open-Meteo — weather data displayed on the map. Device coordinates may be sent to retrieve local weather. Open-Meteo Terms
- Apple Push Notification Service — delivers push notifications to iOS devices via Expo.
We do not sell data to any of these services. Data is shared only as necessary to provide the app's functionality.

Age Requirement
BuzzedUp is intended for users who are 21 years of age or older. By using this app, you confirm that you meet the legal drinking age requirement in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 21.
If we become aware that a user under 21 has used the app, we will take steps to delete their associated data.

Your Rights
Even though BuzzedUp uses anonymous authentication, data associated with your anonymous ID may constitute personal information under applicable privacy laws (such as CCPA or state privacy regulations).
You have the right to:
- Request information — ask what data is associated with your account.
- Request deletion — ask us to delete all data associated with your anonymous user ID, including your username, check-in history, vibes, activity posts, friend connections, badges, deal ratings, and notification tokens.
- Opt out of notifications — disable push notifications through your device settings at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at buzzedupapp@gmail.com. Please include any information that helps us identify your account (such as your username). We will respond within 30 days.

Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, secure authentication, and access controls on our database and storage systems. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach involving your personal information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law, including Ohio's Security Breach Notification Act (ORC § 1349.19), which requires notification within 45 days of discovering a breach involving unencrypted personal information.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. We will update the effective date at the top of this page. If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will notify you through the app or other appropriate means. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your use of BuzzedUp is also governed by our Terms of Service. Please review them carefully.
